The request for qualifications and application to apply can be found online at CaFE (Call for Entry). With the construction of the Central Plaza underway, the City is seeking artist qualifications from those interested in creating a permanent signature sculpture for the Central Plaza that engages people within the park and piques the interest of those driving by. This enduring work of art should convey the spirit of the community, create interest and draw people to Marion. “We received strong interest in this project when we issued the initial call for artists in April, with some proposals falling outside of the established boundaries,” said Deputy City Manager Kim Downs. “By reopening the call we hope to cast a wider net and encourage any qualified sculpture artists from throughout the country to share their qualifications.” Applications will be accepted online only until Friday, May 31, 2024.
